Dad: My Hero
"Those who say we live in a time when there are no heroes just don't know where to look. To find a real hero, sometimes all we have to do is look closer to home.
Few things in the world are more powerful or memorable than a father's positive presence throughout the years. The sound of his footsteps on the stairs. His laughter at the dinner table. His cheers from the sidelines. His words of optimism and hope. A "you can do it" when the going gets tough.
Joseph Campbell once wrote that a hero is someone who has given his life and his heart to something bigger than himself. What a perfect way to describe a great dad.
A great dad is one who gives more than he takes. A great dad picks us up when we are down. Believes in us before we believe in ourselves. Inspires us to expand and embrace what's possible. Challenges us to make a diference in the world. Shares our tears and laughter. Celebrates our hopes, dreams, and accomplishments.
And, in the end, he helps us realise that we can be heroes, too."
